eSUN TPE 83A Filament 1.75mm 1KG – Ultra-Flexible Rubber-Like 3D Printing Material
eSUN TPE 83A (eLastic) is an ultra-flexible thermoplastic elastomer with a Shore hardness of
83A, making it significantly softer than standard TPU materials. This rubber-like filament offers exceptional
elasticity with 420% elongation at break, perfect for applications requiring extreme flexibility, soft touch,
and impact absorption. The material feels similar to soft shoe soles or rubber seals.
Ideal for gaskets, seals, phone cases, insoles, tire models, protective covers, and any application where a soft,
rubbery material is needed. TPE 83A is softer than TPU 95A and even more flexible than TPU 87A, providing
maximum elasticity for demanding applications.
eSUN TPE 83A Key Features
- Shore 83A Hardness – Softer than TPU, similar to rubber seals
- 420% Elongation – Extreme stretch before breaking
- High Resilience – Springs back to original shape after compression
- Tear Resistant – Excellent resistance to tearing and wear
- Chemical Resistant – Resists oils, solvents, and scratches
- UV & Weather Resistant – Good aging resistance for outdoor use

Flexible Filament Comparison – Shore Hardness
| Material | Shore Hardness | Feel Comparison | Print Difficulty |
|---|---|---|---|
| TPE 83A | 83A (Softest) | Soft shoe sole, rubber seal | Hardest |
| TPU 87A | 87A | Flexible rubber | Moderate |
| TPU 95A | 95A (Firmest) | Shopping cart wheel | Easiest |
Lower Shore A number = softer and more flexible, but harder to print.
TPE 83A Applications
- Gaskets & Seals – Custom sealing solutions requiring compression
- Shoe Insoles – Comfortable, cushioning foot supports
- Phone Cases – Shock-absorbing protective covers
- Tire Models – RC car tires and wheel covers
- Watch Bands – Comfortable, flexible wearables
- Vibration Dampeners – Mounting feet and anti-vibration parts
TPE 83A Printing Tips
- Direct Drive Required – TPE 83A cannot be printed on Bowden extruders.
- Dry Before Use – Dry at 55°C for 4+ hours; moisture causes bubbles.
- Very Slow Speed – Print at 15-30mm/s maximum; slower is better.
- Disable Retraction – Retraction causes jams; disable or use 0-1mm.
- Loose Filament Path – Ensure no friction in filament path to prevent bunching.

eSUN TPE 83A FAQ
Q: Can I print TPE 83A on a Bowden extruder?
A: No, TPE 83A is too soft for Bowden setups. The filament will compress and buckle in the tube. A direct drive
extruder is required.
Q: How does Shore 83A compare to TPU 95A?
A: TPE 83A is significantly softer and more flexible. TPU 95A feels like a cart wheel, while TPE 83A feels like
a soft rubber seal or shoe sole.
Q: What print speed should I use?
A: Very slow – 15-30mm/s is recommended. The extreme flexibility requires slow feeding to prevent the filament
from bunching in the extruder.
Q: Does TPE 83A need drying?
A: Yes, all flexible filaments absorb moisture. Dry at 55°C for at least 4 hours before printing for best
results.
Q: Is TPE 83A suitable for functional parts?
A: Yes, TPE 83A is excellent for gaskets, seals, and vibration dampeners. Its combination of flexibility,
chemical resistance, and durability makes it ideal for functional applications.
