Bambu Lab PLA-CF is a carbon fiber reinforced PLA filament that combines the easy printability of standard PLA with significantly improved mechanical properties. The chopped carbon fibers increase bending strength by up to 68% and bending modulus by 67% compared to PLA Matte, making it ideal for parts requiring higher stiffness and structural rigidity without the complexity of engineering-grade nylons.

The carbon fiber content produces a premium matte finish with almost invisible layer lines, giving prints a professional appearance straight off the build plate. AMS compatible with low clogging risk even at high speeds. Requires a hardened steel nozzle to prevent wear.

PLA-CF FAQ

Q: Do I need a hardened steel nozzle for PLA-CF?
A: Yes, the carbon fiber content is abrasive and will wear out brass nozzles quickly. Use a hardened steel nozzle in 0.4mm, 0.6mm, or 0.8mm size. Stainless steel nozzles are also not recommended.

Q: Can I use PLA-CF with the Bambu Lab AMS?
A: Yes, PLA-CF is fully AMS compatible with RFID auto-configuration. It has low clogging risk even at high printing speeds.

Q: How is PLA-CF different from PA-CF or PAHT-CF?
A: PLA-CF uses PLA as the base material, making it much easier to print (no enclosure, lower temperatures). PA-CF and PAHT-CF use nylon bases for higher temperature resistance and toughness, but require enclosed printers and are more moisture-sensitive. PLA-CF is the best choice when you need improved stiffness without the complexity of nylon-based filaments.

Q: Does PLA-CF need an enclosure?
A: No, PLA-CF has the same low warping characteristics as standard PLA and prints well on open-frame printers like the Bambu Lab A1 and A1 Mini.

Q: What build plates work with PLA-CF?
